Daily Bible Reading Day 330

Daily Bible Reading Day 330: 1 Chronicles 22/ 1 Peter 3

1 Chronicles 22

There was a gift of land to David for him to build God’s temple.  But David knew that this was not to be a gift but a sacrifice unto God.

Due to David’s sins, God said David’s son, Solomon would be the one ultimately to build the temple.  David heard God’s “no” and accepted it.  He was not jealous of his son.  There will be times someone else will see it come to fruition, even though you worked hard on it.  Be thankful that it gets accomplished instead of who achieves it.

1 Peter 3

Submission is to voluntarily cooperate with someone out of love and respect for God and to that person.  It isn’t a demeaning action.  We are instructed as wives to do that to our husbands.  Husbands are to respect their wives. If they do not, this can hinder answers to their prayers.  By having the right relationship with others, we can have the right relationship with God.

Our actions speak louder than words.  We are to show others the meaning of being a Christian by how we act more than what we say.

Keep the peace, do not take revenge, pray for our enemies, be a blessing.

Daily Bible Reading Day 321

Daily Bible Reading Day 321: 1 Chronicles 9 &10/ Hebrews 12

1 Chronicles 9

The people exiled to Babylon returned to Judah.  They were exiled because of sin.  Many did not sin, but they were affected by the sin of the majority.  We still need to speak out against sin, even if we are ostracized.

Worship is an important part of our relationship with our Heavenly Father.  The Levites and other priests spent a lot of time in worship.  Worship of our God, should not be condensed into a 20 minute session, one day a week.  We need to find the time to worship and praise him daily!

1 Chronicles 10

The Philistines fought against Israel when Saul was king.  The Israelites were fighting a losing battle.  Saul did not obey the Lord and was unfaithful.  He remained passive.  The Philistines killed three of Saul’s sons.  Saul found out and killed himself.  The Philistines found Saul dead, took his head and armor and brought that to their pagan temple.

Hebrews 12

Discipline.  Good parents do this on the daily basis.  Our Heavenly Father loves us so much, He disciplines us as a good parent.  He is our spiritual parent that wants us to be our best.

We must remove all that is causing us to sin and stunt our growth.   As Christians, we must remove all things that keep us from sinning and obeying God.  If we keep our eyes on Jesus, we will live well.  Bitterness causes disappointment to take root and make our lives miserable.  We are called to be peaceful with one another.  People make that difficult, but it better to have peace than constant discourse.

God is a consuming fire.  He will consume all sin.  Only what are good and righteous will remain.

Daily Bible Reading Day 237

Daily Bible Rading Day 237: 1 Samuel 17/Romans 15

1 Samuel 17

”David replied to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies-the God of the armies of Israel whom you have defied.”  1 Samuel 17:45

The Israelites and Philistines were battling teach other.  The Philistines had tall and mighty soldiers fighting their battles.  They would taunt the Israelites.  For 40 days, no one would fight because logistically, there were issues.

Goliath, who was over nine feet tall, came to taunt the Israelites.  He boasted of his abilities and said, if anyone could win the battle against him and kill him, they would become their slaves.

King Saul debated on who to send out.  David, the son of Jesse, was Saul’s armor barer.  David told Saul, he would fight Goliath.  Saul doubted David, since he was a young boy.  But David had God to fight for him.

There are times where circumstances seem so big, they are seem impossible to overcome.  David knew God was with him and that he would be able to defeat the giant.  David took a sling with a rock, and slung the rock right between Goliath’s eyes.  Goliath died and the Philistines were defeated.

Romans 15

”I pray that God, the source of hope will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him.  Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”  Romans 15:13

Paul preached on unity.  We are to accept others, as God would have accepted us.  When we are in harmony with one another, it shows others who Christ is in us.  Paul wanted God’s followers to all experience peace and joy through our their trust in Him by the power of the Holy Spirit.  If you believe and trust in God, we shall have peace.

It is a joy and honor for God to use us to help one another.  We must give glory to God, not ourselves.  We are not the ones with the power, it comes from God.   We can have self-esteem, knowing our value in God, but we are not the ones who are God.

Daily Bible Reading Day 227

Daily Bible Reading Day 227/1 Samuel 5 &6/ Romans 5

1 Samuel 5

The Philistines captured the Ark of the Covenant.   The Philistines believed in many gods.  They felt if they had the Ark, it would help them as much as it helped the Israelites.  But that Ark belonged to the Israelites and God began to punish the Philistines.

The Ark was brought to the Ashdod people.  It was brought  into area where their idol, Dagon was displayed, their idol broke.  When the Ashdods moved the Ark, people began to get inflicted with tumors.  They realized that God was all powerful and they wanted to get rid of it.

Over a period of time, The Ark was moved around to several places and all people began to suffer from those tumors and die.

1 Samuel 6

In the Canaanite region, people were trying to give a guilt offering, to ward off the curse God was bringing upon the Philistines.  The Philistines were trying to see of God was the one who was causing the trouble.  The hooked a cow that was nursing to the cart carrying the Ark of the Covenant.  The cow moved the cart overriding her motherly instincts to stay with her nursing calf. They knew only God could cause this mother cow to do that.

As the Ark was moved some people died, as they looked into the Ark.  God punished them because they were trying to give themselves power instead of following God and the laws.

Romans 5

We will all endure some sort of suffering in our lives.  It would be nice to get through life without difficulties.  But suffering and difficult situations builds our character.  Then, we grow and become mature.

We have a peace that surpasses all understanding, the peace from God.  Even in those difficult times, we can know that God is in control and that He will carry us through.

Adam’s sin in the garden affected all man-kind.  This sin brought death and destruction.  But Jesus Christ gives us eternal life.  God knew we needed forgiveness, so God sacrificed His only Son, to give us that redemption.  God loves us so much!
