Daily Bible Reading Day 302: 2 Kings 10 & 11/ 2 Timothy 1
2 Kings 10
Jehu followed most of God’s demands, especially ending the generations of Ahab and removing the pagan worship of Baal. However, Jehu did not stop the worship of the golden calves.
The event of ending Ahab’s descendants ended up being more like a slaughter. There are many people who say Christians cause a lot of death. However, this comes from people making these decisions not from God. God did not instruct Jehu to slaughter more people.
Israel was to only worship God. Unfortunately, pagan religions were still allowed to be worshipped. Therefore, sin caused a lot of destruction and death.
2 Kings 11
There was an attempt to kill all the sons of the royal line of King Jeroham. One of the children, Joash, was hidden in the temple and escaped murder.
Joash became king at age 7. His mother, high priests, and other advisers helped Joash reign over Judah.
2 Timothy 1
“For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love, and of a self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Paul was in jail. He still was faithful and shared the gospel. He wrote a letter to Timothy, his friend and partner in ministry. Paul lost everything, but he had his security in Jesus. He knew God had control over everything, no matter his circumstances.
Paul told TImothy to be bold during his trials. He said that The Holy Spirit can give us power when we need help.
